        Hutchinson: Panelist David
Hutchinson became interested in yoga in the mid-1970s, when he was
20 years old. For a few years he explored various yoga paths, then
came upon The Synthesis of Yoga, and his fate was sealed. He
spent a year at the California Institute of Asian Studies (now the
California Institute of Integral Studies), in San Francisco, studying
Sanskrit and Eastern philosophy. In the last ten years Dave
has been involved with the wider community of sadhaks. Since 1994
he has participated actively on various Integral Yoga email lists,
and he helped found and maintain the Miraura Web site. Dave is also a member of
the Sri Aurobindo Association, which engages in a number of activities
related to the yoga, including publishing the journal Collaboration.
Co-editing that journal has put him in contact with many people who
write about the yoga. In 1996 he visited the Pondicherry Ashram and
Auroville for the first and only time. He lives in Sacramento, California,
where he hosts discussion groups one evening a week to discuss major
works such as Savitri, The Synthesis of Yoga, and The Life
Divine. He occasionally interacts with members of the Sri Aurobindo
Sadhana Peetham, an ashram in Lodi, California, and with individuals
from the Bay Area. Dave has been married since
1983, and is a registered nurse at the UC Davis Medical Center, where
he works in the technology field, implementing a large-scale electronic
        medical record. |
